November 7, 2011

November 7, 2011
dear fam,
The Lords hand is in everything :) There wasn’t a lot of success but the little
we had was BIG steps. We also gave a ton of service.
The ward is awesome I’ll talk about some of the members in a little bit.

Weather... it’s been 'warm' for this time of the season say the natives’ but its
100% chance of snow on Tuesday and Wednesday. So it’s starting to get chilly. I
have all the winter gear, I should be warm :)
Tuesday some elders called and said they needed some help moving a potential
investigator. Most potentials that need help with moving or want some sort of
service, it’s a drop and they don’t want anything to do with the church, but it
is a seed planted. As we went to the move, we learned that Rebecca is in our
area so I got a little excited and hoped we could pick her up as an
investigator. As we all waited for the truck to arrive, Rebecca told us that her
friend with the truck bailed out and couldn’t do it. So we taught a lesson.
Come to find out she is a an excommunicated member with her life in the drain,
in a terrible situation and needing God in her life again. As we taught and
testified she was crying... the spirit was so strong. Rebecca said 'help me
change'. We can help but it’s not us that does the changing it’s Christ that
changes individuals.
That night my chain broke again 3 times in about 4 weeks I figured it was time
to take it in. As I fixed it, we found a great lady looking for the gospel and
ended up be a golden referral to some other elders.
Wednesday my bike got fixed. Very windy and difficult to stay up right. Luckily
there were only close calls and no crashes.
Thursday we got a call from Bro Dorset (awesome guy used to be a wrestler) and
said he needed some help moving some branches into a chipper. Well geez he
wasn’t really asking for that he was asking for some help to cut down his tree.
Some pro tree cutters got it down and then we cleaned and piled everything up.
It was tons of fun being able to be around the chain saws and all the noise and
just be boys for a while. It felt extremely good to do that.
Dinner was with the Wangs and they are making huge changes in their lives. They
are changing from normal active members to active awesomeness. Their new family
hand shake is kind of like a team getting ready to go win a state title "we
preach, teach and baptize" pretty sure they got that from some missionaries but
hey, it works!
Friday we picked Angela back up. Her fiancé is out of the picture and so now she
is ready to put the nose to the grind. The Blake family are her home teachers.
Soo solid. They are another family doing the same as the Wangs. Sister Blake is
a ward missionary. Sooooooooooo solid. The spirit was really there. Hopefully we
can get her member daughter who is 13 on board. Sunday when they came to church
they left right after sacrament because of the anxiety from the daughter. Slow
and steady, forcing is not the way.
Saturday we finished and got Rebecca moved. It was filthy cat piss and
cigarettes everywhere. My lungs where desperate for fresh air by the time we
were finished. I have the faith we can teach her! I pray we can...
We helped some other members with leaves and cleaning out garage and fall
cleaning before the snow falls. One of the members took us to a buffet it was
really good Chinese place and guess what the dinner member did? Took us to the
same place. We never heard or went to this place before and go to it twice in
one day. Our stomachs where yucky the rest of the night. I was thankful the next
day was fast Sunday! :)
Sunday Sister Blake got up and bore her testimony on member missionary work. She
cried a little. I am thankful for members like her… willing to change for the
work of the lord and come out of her comfort zone for eternal benefits.
well gota go last week I didn’t write my President a letter.. OPPPSS
hope all is well enjoy not having snow on the ground :D
love
