Transfers . . . will this be the last?

April 9, 2012
Dear fam,
What an exciting week for everyone. Easter is a blast being able to focus on the atonement of Christ.  The goodies are a wonderful treat as well. Don’t worry about the package, all is well! the popcorn was a good one :)

This week was very different and pressure filled. Couldn’t sleep a few nights, but it was good.  Transfer calls were  intense and very pressure filled. President assigned me as a zone leader up in Duluth. It’s going to be a HUGE learning and growing experience. I’ll be with Elder Watkins, we came out together but he was in the other district. Elder Sned is staying and going to be the district leader here. We are both a little anxious about the new assignments. He hasn’t ever had any leadership on his mission yet.

This week was a good week, had some great success.
Tuesday district meeting funnn, we did it on the doctrine of Christ. Rather intense with the 4 of us focused on the same thing. Then we did a blitz in the Farmington area … rather ridiculous driving in the car and just getting to the area and then getting back to our area was an hour.

We meet with one of the investigators that had a baptismal date, but some things came up. Bro Dvorak (ml) helped out. Every time that we have ever taught this lady it’s been at the Gunderson’s and the Gunderson’s have always feed us. Well this time it was at her home and she made us dinner... she thought that that was the payment for the lesson. We all had a great laugh about it.

Next we had the 17 year old investigator text us and said that his dad no longer wanted us in his home. We called like 3 people all said nope to short of notice. (They were looking for a place to have the discussion)  Last person in the area was a miracle said that we could meet at his house and it was going to work perfect. He had an hour gap between his schedule and right when we had the appointment. Marvelous! It went well and he is going to set his own date. We felt impressed to have him prayerfully select it.

Wednesday president came out with some "new" stuff.  Really frustrating.  The box the missionaries are in is getting smaller and smaller.

We had lessons and they were great … the Egyptian lady is solid as ever and then some investigators we got in new Prague asked how baptisms in  the church are preformed and was wondering how to join the church. The husband is ... comfortable and doesn’t want to move anywhere including out of his recliner.

Thursday mowed the lawn for the Egyptian. Her husband stays in bed and needed some help. She continues to call on us when she needs help. We are trying to get the branch involved but no luck yet.  People are scared to meet her... not totally sure why.

There is a single mother that called us from the branch that we are pretty close with and talk with regularly... she called us crying because of discomfort of sickness and just bawling... broke my heart to see that, and to try to comfort her. We went over and gave her a blessing.

Sunday was good, felt the spirit pretty strong all day. Even brought me to tears in sacrament meeting, I’m glad we were sitting in the back so no one could see :) I thought teaching priesthood geezers was not that different from teaching investigators. All these spiritual giants and a little guy like me suppose to teach them .. well I know that wasn’t going to happen. I did my best to bring the spirit in and have Him teach them. It was chapter 7 from president smith's teachings.

You know about the transfers and the craziness that brings... but this time it’s a little bit different. I’ll be on a bus for 5 hours getting to my new area. I’m sending my winter gear and other things home, a total of 3 boxes.

 hope all is well
love
