speaking of that part of the Haws family, how is Brett doing?
Dylan did not come to church. He was at his dad's house having a birthday thing with him. I am so glad that you and dad are not divorced and having to deal with all the stresses of that and having to choose where to be and where to go each week. It’s such a mess especially as he is getting ready for baptism. Rozina fell though the cracks. Had all the dots figured out but for some odd ball reason the dots didn’t connect so she was unable to come to church. The Nelson’s . . . Yes, the father is a member. On Wednesday we are going over there and laying down the law. Bro Nelson continues to say if he is a wake which he 'should be' he will come to church with his family, and that’s only happened once since I have been working with the family. We will be arranging rides and greeters and what not to get them there that way the kids can be that great example they want to be. The kids want to come so bad but the dad has a desire but is unable to follow though. We will get them there though :)   yes we will!

Monday- we went to Oakdale with the district to have a pot luck kind of thing. There were root beer floats, pancakes, hamburgers, salsa, and I forget what else.  It was us, Oakdale (sisters) and Cottage Grove.  Red Wing didn’t come because they are sooooo far way.  It's like 60 miles one way, long ways away they rarely come to district get togethers. Getting food is always a good thing and than after getting stuffed we watched The Other Side of Heaven.  It made me very grateful I have the blessing of gaining a lot of weight than losing a lot of weight and not having to go back the wrestler’s diet again. I never knew how real movies like that are, Best Two Years and than there's some other movie about missionary work that I can't remember right now.  I look back they are right on the money.
Tuesday-we had district meeting in Oakdale. It’s a blessing to have the temple right there to see so often, we saw it alot this last week. It’s a beautiful building no matter the size. the blessing and things that go on inside make it the most magnificent I think. eternal blessings waiting in side :)
The heat index and was suppose to be really hot...up wards of 120+ we planned accordingly and had a day inside all day.  We taught Dylan that night.  Our joint teacher was Bro Jon Kelly.  He was an area 70 I think. He is so intense and spirit filled. I was exited to learn from him and grow.  He was just like any one of us testify and crack a joke here and there to keep it fun.  Dylan, after that visit, is 100% ready for baptism. Ben Chipman a youth in the ward will be baptizing him and than Bro Littlefield will be confirming him and giving him the holy ghost. I was a little sad that he didn’t ask me to do any part of it, but glad that he chose someone that he will know a lot longer and can build a better relation ship and keep him going.
Wednesday- we had a new missionary training.  It was another day that was inside all day.  Being inside is great and all but when we are normally on our feet and going going going and than we are told stop... sit... and listen.... it s rough trying to not get antsy. Sister Clements shared with us how we should "go towards the light".  Often times when people are passing away the people near them will encourage them to go towards the light.  Why shouldn’t we go towards the light every day?  What is the light?  The light and life of the world is our Savior.  It brought it into reality for me.  Follow the light, don’t be afraid of it.
We were also asked to evaluate our member work, and than to do better.  It’s extremely difficult to do that when we don’t go to ward council, ward coordination or PEC. Really difficult.  Some missionaries before my time, messed that up.  Elder Mower and i talked about it and prayed.
Thursday- we went to the family history center.  I have never been to one of those, and the experience there was exiting.  The lady telling about the tools there and how to use them was not a member.  It confused me because she is in the church all day of week, talks to members every day during that week and loves doing her family history work.  She called it "computer crack".
Friday-Elder Sargent a greenie in Cottage Grove received some revelation to go tracking on Daven Port Ave. Well, as he searched and searched he couldn’t find it. When he did, he discovered it was in our area. We gladly went there and knocked some doors.  A lady on the street of 6 houses was very nice and was exited we were there to share the gospel with her. But seeing Satan slowly working was not the best sight to see. we were able to leave with a book of Mormon in her hand.  In a few weeks we will go by and see how every thing is going and see if she felt the spirit reading it, hoping that she did. We taught Monika and Ravi that night. They are Hindu investigators that we meet with every other week it seems. The spirit was not there at all. without the spirit there and trying to teach them uggg almost impossible.  They made it very clear that they where never going to be Christians but loved to compare religions, by the end, they committed to reading and praying about the Book of Mormon. We left feeling the spirit.
Sunday being the highlight of the week and it was a great day. We had dinner with Bro Littlefield and the family.  It was an answer to our prayers. He is in the Young Men’s Presidency, I think the president.  He asked us why we hadn’t been in ward council or PEC. I simply said we had not been asked do go and that he have been instructed not to go unless invited to do so.  He will be talking to bishop about letting us go. :) that was sooo nice to have him in the ward … and an answer to our prayers. (another tender mercy)

we have a goal to double baptisms again - shooting for 120 in the near future.  It’s going to be a step, but we will be able to do this.  Each team in our district has set a goal of 4 baptisms for the month of August.  Alot of prayer and fasting will be done.  It will be possible, but it is going to be a lot of work, lots!  In our zone we are the highlight district. I hope we can show we are by our faith and helping people come closer to Christ. We also have a goal to invite 1000 people as a mission per month to baptism. woooooo! Elder Mower and I are stepping our game up a lot with faith and boldness.

all in a all a great week love you all
elder baker.
