January 16, 201

Dear fam.

This morning was transfers, I have been in the Rochester 3rd ward for 3 transfers and it is now at the end. President is closing down the area and making it the way it used to be when we got here. The Spanish sisters taking over the English work in just this area.

I am going to New Prague which has proven interesting. I am again white-washing. I believe president enjoys throwing me around like a rag doll.  My companion will be Elder Snedigaer, who is a great missionary and there should be no problems with faith, drive, enduring, or openness. Not sure on the spelling of his name.  We will be white-washing (3rd time he has had to whitewash) in a dead area. Pres said the area is dead and that this is the last straw for the branch to have missionaries for a while. ooo by the way we will be homeless for a few days as well. He said to try and live with members until they get the apartment figured out. There’s a lot on my mind... :) pressure makes diamonds.  (bless his heart, please keep him in your prayers . . .)

I’m glad to be a missionary that president can trust and put in difficult situations. But going into it at first I really dislike it. Its kinda the same with this ward or even Eagan looking at where the trust levels were with the missionaries or how low the faith of the ward was. But then to see it turn around either dramatically or even just a little. That gives me joy and I realize that I may not have baptized but the foundation or the changing of the ward’s members minds has been changed. Maybe someday I’ll be able to see the fruit of my labors.

Elder Pedersen is going to Eau Clare which is in the Oakdale zone. It used to be a Hmong area but is now English. His companion is.... I can't remember his name but he is legit!

About school - - -  president has encouraged all the missionaries to go to school right when they get home. I want to be busy when I get home. No idle mind, I won’t come home a transfer early. That’s not two years --- starting a race and then not finish it? Naaa, I'll stay and finish. There’s a song at the beginning of the mission I used to sing to myself when I wanted to go home. "you better loose yourself in the moments, you better never let it go, you only got one shot, do not miss this chance to go, this opportunity comes once in a life time" (his release date is Aug. 15 and school begins Aug. 20 - it'll be a ride for sure!)

Angry birds is a game that people play when they are not engaged in Sacrament Sunday School or Priesthood ha-ha. It’s a very popular game from what I’ve seen. Why do you ask?  (I got joke about angry birds that I wanted to send to him, but I wasn't sure he would understand it . . . lol)

About the bike situation. The "new" bike is a road bike. Didn’t I tell this story earlier? All is well.  While Elder Pedersen was sick, we decided to build the bikes. We had 4 in the garage that didn’t work so we took the 4 and made 2 working great bikes. I am riding the road bike around for a few reasons. 1) its easier to bike and 2) that junk bike gets junked and not my good bike. yes I still have my original and it will come home with me, I believe.

It really hasn’t been that cold compared to last winter. We did finally get some snow. About 4 inches on the ground. Some parts of AZ have gotten more snow than MN. How funky is that?

This week was great, taught about 12 lessons which is a huge jump from the 4 we were consistently hitting. It did give us a lot more anti and things being thrown at us. No worries the on thing that hit me was a... I can’t spell it but it’s got 10000 calories when you deep fry it. ha-ha got a few new gators and now pshhh closing the area down, but the Spanish sisters are taking over the area. Hopefully they can handle both English for the ward and Spanish for all of Rochester.
 I love you
elder baker

p.s. My camera is retarded. It decided that there are pictures on it. Here are a few more but it seems to be still having some kinks. hope you figure it all out :) if not when I send the card home I’ll up date you than. (I can't get any of his pictures to download here . . . ugh!)
